The Skills You Need To Succeed
The one-year PN certificate plan of study includes courses in Emergency and First Aid, Pharmacology, Fundamentals of Nursing, Health Assessment, Body Structure, Mental Health, Family Centered Nursing and Adult Nursing.
Healthcare is changing rapidly. Alabama Southern's customized curriculum, designed in cooperation with the health care industry, helps workers stay current and advance their job skills. An upward mobility program also allows PN's to complete the nursing course requirements for the ADN program in one year.
Through working partnerships with first-rate hospitals and medical centers throughout Southwest Alabama, students gain well-balanced exposure to both rural and urban medicine, but with a special emphasis on rural nursing. Alabama Southern instructors teach critical thinking skills required on the job in the fast-paced world of nursing. Instructors also teach to individual learning styles and use computer assisted learning and testing in the classroom. The Nursing department's advising program provides consistent communication between student and advisor throughout the course of study.
Growth Opportunities and Great Pay
Healthcare provides one of the fastest growing job markets in the country. Improvements in medical technology, along with a growing and aging population will guarantee the continued demand for health services. Job opportunities are as varied as they are plentiful.
Our PN program on the Thomasville Campus prepares graduates to work competently in hospitals, nursing homes, doctor's offices and home health care. Students gain hands-on experience through clinical facilities in hospitals in the five counties surrounding the Thomasville Campus.
