Student Support Services

Student Support Services is a federally funded program that provides academic and personal support to eligible ASCC students. SSS is committed to helping ASCC students be successful as they pursue their degree at ASCC by offering individualized advising, tutoring, success workshops, transfer college/university trips, and much more.

To qualify for the SSS program, students must meet one of the following federally defined criteria:
·         Income (financial aid recipient who meets income requirements)
·         Family background (first generation students, meaning neither of your parents graduated from a four year college/university)
·         Disability (Physical or learning)

·         Be enrolled full time
·         Plan to transfer to a 4 year university
·         Attend tutoring, counseling, and other support sessions as recommended

ALL of the services and activities provided by SSS are at NO COST to the students or their families

Paid for by U. S. Department of Education Funds.   ASCC and the SSS program assure that no student on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, veteran, or disabled veteran will be denied opportunity to make application for the SSS program.

These programs include Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math/Science, Veterans Upward Bound, Student Support Services, Educational Opportunity Centers, and Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement.

Alabama Southern Community College serves 160 students through the Student Support Services program.
