Alabama Southern offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree and a certificate program in Electrical & Instrumentation Technology on our Thomasville Campus

Alabama Southern’s technology programs prepare workers for some of the best jobs in our area. Our two-year Associate in Applied Science degree option and two-semester certificate program in Electrical & Instrumentation Technology combine electrical and instrumentation theory with state-of-the-art hands-on labs.

  • Instrumentation technicians troubleshoot, maintain, repair, replace and install process control equipment to produce quality products and ensure environmental protection, safety and cost-effective operations. They work in a wide variety 
of industrial settings including pulp, paper and chemical mills, petroleum, steel and automotive manufacturing.

  • Students learn using hardwired electrical controls. Students gain hands-on experience by removing, calibrating and reinstalling instrumentation and controls from many 
different industrial suppliers.

  • The Alabama Southern Industry Alliance for a Technologi-cally Advanced Workforce has helped us build a workforce development program that is recognized as one of the nation’s best. Graduates exit the program with hands-on 
skills and knowledge recognized by industry partners as 
the key competencies to succeed in the field of instrumentation technology.
