Applying for Admission to Alabama Southern is easy. Alabama Southern has an open-door admission policy. Admission to college coursework may require graduation from high school or a General Education Diploma (GED). Students without a high school diploma or GED may apply for selected programs after passing the Ability to Benefit Test. An official transcript of all previous academic work is also required. Various programs of study have different admission requirements. Effective immediately, December 2008, all new applicants must present a photo i.d. prior to admission. Click the APPLY NOW button below to begin a new admission application. New applicants will need to create a user ID and password by clicking "Get One" on the login page.
Apply for Admission. Submit your application, high school transcript, GED documentation and/or official transcripts from all other colleges attended to the Registrar’s office. You must also submit a completed residency verification form and submit your photo ID in person or a notarized copy by mail.
Apply for Financial Aid. Submit your application and financial documentation to the Financial Aid office. Students may also apply for financial aid at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Take the COMPASS Placement Test. The COMPASS Placement Test is required of all new degree seeking or vocational/occupational students and any transfer student who has not had an English or mathematics course and wishes to take one.
Attend SOAR (Student Orientation and Registration). Dates will be posted on www.ascc.edu prior to the start of each semester.
See an Advisor & Select Classes. An advisor in your major will assist you in selecting classes and in helping you complete a class schedule.
Register for Classes. After you meet with your advisor you will be cleared for online registration through ASCC Online.
Obtain Parking Permit. Parking permits are issued during registration. Students must complete a Vehicle Registration Card to receive a parking permit. Parking permits are valid for two years.
Pay Tuition and Fees. All tuition and fees must be paid at the time you register. Registration is not complete without this important step.
Purchase Books & Supplies. Take your schedule of classes to the bookstore and personnel will assist you. Pell Grant and scholarship students who wish to charge books may purchase books the first day of class.
Student Photo ID. Take your schedule of classes and your photo ID to the library to have your student ID made. Student IDs are required and can also be used at local merchants for discounts.
